At three summer school sites, we engage over 350 students in grades 1st-5th in meaningful learning for five weeks in June and July. Instead of being exposed to summer slide, our students are able to apply concepts and practices to solve real world problems with engagement through technology and innovative instructional practices. Our team of teachers and leaders are able to develop new approaches and refine their practice with daily learning labs and collaborative structures as well as one on one coaching with a specialist. In the afternoons, high school and college volunteers work with students in small groups to develop teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Students learn to sing songs in basic mandarin, as well as the alphabet and numbers.
Little Buddies expand their culinary skills in this program by following healthy recipes to enjoy their crafty creations.
This Big Buddy-led enrichment program allows students to continue learning STEM in a hands-on way during the summer.
