NOW ACCEPTING JUNIOR ADVISORY BOARD APPLICATIONS!
To apply, submit this application no later than 11:59pm on Tuesday, December 5th. Please note that due to high interest in joining the Junior Advisory Board, the selection process will be highly competitive. Priority will be given to students who:
- Have consistently volunteered with Achieve Miami for at least 1 year
- Demonstrate leadership for Achieve Miami in their school community
- Are currently in the 10th or 11th grade
- Have shown passion and commitment to Achieve Miami

As a member of the Achieve Miami Junior Advisory Board, student leaders are in a position to make a significant contribution to Achieve Miami’s programs in our partner high schools, as well as in our community programs. We need student leaders to develop and carry on the culture at our Saturday sites and propel recruitment for our summer programs. Board members are our lifeline to student voice and perspective and provide Achieve Miami with valuable feedback, suggestions, and ideas about topics that are relevant to our programs. Achieve Miami wants to empower our high school leaders because their suggestions and ideas will have a real impact on the services we together provide. This premier organization will be led by students who have consistently shown commitment to Achieve Miami’s programs and a desire to take a leadership role with their peers.
The vision of the Junior Advisory Board is to be the premier organization run by high school students whose main purpose is to be part of a community based initiative that improves student achievement. Board members will grow together, work together, and raise awareness about Achieve Miami. We strive to have representatives from our most devoted schools as board members in order to lead our vision and program culture. Students on the board will inspire and motivate their friends and peers to implement Achieve Miami’s initiatives at their schools.
The Board commitment is for a 6 month term. The term begins in January 2018 until June 2018. Meetings will be on one Sunday morning a month.
Attend all board meetings
Attend at least 80% of Achieve Saturday sessions
Collaborate with other Big Buddies and bring forward helpful information to improve the Saturday Service Academy
Identify and recruit committed student leaders from your high school to participate in Achieve Miami programs
Create and lead engagement drives to strengthen Achieve Miami (laptop drives, fundraising, book drives)
Take leadership roles during Achieve Saturdays
Model being an effective leader
